Adding a New Post Using the Classic Editor Plugin

I have a lot to learn about blogging in WordPress. On the outset, one of the most basic things is how to use the Gutenberg editor. Abort that. I tried it and didn’t like it at all. The following is made entirely in the Classic Editor (using the plugin).

Occasionally, I guess I will want to use bold and italics. Well, that’s standard enough. I may want to put in a link. For instance, suppose I want another link to my site and I want it to open in another tab on the browser. Can I do it? zydanielson.com. That got the link in there. Each time I create or edit a link, there is a checkbox to tell it whether to open in a new browser tab or not. (The plugin Admin and Site Enhancements (ASE) can be used to override this in all cases.

I’m wondering how this looks so far. So I’ll stop, publish, and view the post.

Note to self: Interesting. The paragraphs look fine. I can right-click the link to open the site in another tab. But I can’t seem to get it to do that as default behavior.

Here is a list. I wonder if I can use a nested list inside it?

  1. An Item
    a. A nested Item
    b. A nested Item
  2. An Item
  3. An item

Okay. I’m happy with that. I like the Classic Editor much better!

Use the following color (Teal) when quoting conversations with AI, or interviews with people, etc.

Zy: Something important I wanted to say.

Claude: I’m listening.
What is it, Zy? Don’t let the editor intimidate you!
Just go ahead and say what’s on your mind.
Use Ctrl-Enter to make a new line in a quoted conversation.
And use 5 spaces to make a new paragraph with same person continuing to speak.

Zy: Thanks, Claude. I don’t know what I’d do without you.

That isn’t too bad. I suppose I could live with it. The important thing is to choose the right color, I guess.

  • Teal isn’t bad. Maybe it’s better.
  • Red violet isn’t bad either. Or perhaps as an alt color.

There is one VERY important thing to remember. Once you have edited the content of a post using Elementor Pro, there is no going back to the Classic editor. I recommend using the Classic Editor always for post content, and Elementor Pro only to work on the layout of Theme or Saved Templates!
